I love sharing some of our family traditions. And these are one of them ๐ Our kiddos look forward to these cookies every year! In addition, we love making Christmas cookie baskets for our friends! We drop them off on their front door steps at Christmas time! There’s nothing like spreading Christmas cheer โค๏ธ We wish you and your’s a very happy holiday season!
How To Make NO-BAKE Christmas Wreath Cookies
You only need a handful of ingredients for these cornflake wreaths: butter | marshmallows | cornflakes | green food color | red hot candies | red sour candies or twizzlers pull & peels for the bows (these are optional). Itโs like making rice krispy treats, but with cornflakes. SO yummy!! While these cookies aren’t difficult to make, they are extremely sticky! You will need to lather your hands up with butter prior to forming the wreaths! Our kids always enjoy this part of forming the wreaths ๐ I think its because they get to taste-test while making them, lol.
- 1 stick butter (1/2 cup)
- 1 bag of mini marshmallows, 10 oz
- Green food coloring (color to your liking)
- 5 cups corn flakes cereal
- Red hots
- Red sour candies OR twizzler’s pull and peels (cut into 5 x 1/4 in. lengths) for the bows
Directions
Step 1
Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. (If making a double batch or more, you may want to spread out the parchment paper on your countertop for more room.)
Step 2
If using red sour candies or twizzlers pull & peels to make bows, assemble the bows now. You can cover with saran wrap so the bows set don’t come off and will set in the refrigerator.
Step 3
In a medium/large pot, melt the butter over medium heat and then add the marshmallows to the melted butter, stirring consistently until the marshmallows are melted (you don’t want the marshmallows to burn).
Step 4
Add in green food coloring until you have your desired green color.
Step 5
Pour the corn flake cereal into the melted marshmallows, mixing with a spatula until all the corn flakes are covered.
Step 6
Remove from heat and butter-up your hands as this mixture will be super sticky! Using a medium sized spoon scoop out 2-inch balls and place them on your prepared baking sheets. Form the mixture molding the sides as needed to form a circular wreath and poke a hole in the center with your finger to finish creating your shape. Add the red hot candies RIGHT AWAY while the marshmallow mixture is still sticky so they actually stick to the wreaths. Add bows if desired.
Step 7
Place the Christmas wreaths in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to set. You can also freeze these and take out what you need, when you need them. Remove from the refrigerator or freezer, serve and enjoy. Store in an airtight container.
